Every year, the winter brings plenty of subzero temperatures, snow and yes winter festivals. And speaking of festivals, if you want to catch one, then there’s no better place to be than the world-renowned Winterlude Festival in Canada. Every year it brings a bunch of unique events, artists and gigs, which pull tourist from all over the world. In 2020, the festival will begin on Jan 31 and end Feb 17. Here are a bunch of things, which you can expect at Winterlude: 

Create your skating memories at Rideau Canal Skateway

Rent or grab your pair of skates to glide away at the Rideau Canal Skateway. Do you know, it’s the world’s largest natural ice skating rink? And do you know 2020 is its 50th anniversary? Just the perfect excuse to be there. This 4.8-mile stretch is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The winter is your playground at Jacques Cartier Park

Think of this place as Alice in Wonderland in winter season. This place in downtown Ottawa becomes a snow kingdom with action-packed activities like:

  • Tube sliding
  • Skiing and snowboarding lessons
  • Zip lining
  • Indigenous performances
  • Snow sculptures

This is open Thursdays through Sundays during the festival
