Your Perfect Weekend In Atlanta

The cosmopolitan culture, the multi-ethnic food scene and the zippy nightlife, there’s plenty of it here at Atlanta. To be honest, you’ll need weeks if not days to discover this city. But if you are on a time crunch and have only a weekend, here’s what should be on your to-do list:

Day 1

Go with the flow at the Georgia Aquarium

What better way to start your day than admiring the thousands of marine species in the largest aquarium in the world. There are over 65 endangered marine species, which swim in over 10 million gallons of fresh and salt water stored in the museum. That’s a lot of water!

Time to head to Varsity

No, we are not telling you about visiting the university. We are recommending a classic fast-food joint called the Varsity, which also houses the world’s largest drive-in area. It’s a great pit stop to fuel up on some greasy yet toothsome grub. Should keep your tank full for the rest of the afternoon.

Time for a lesson from the past

Get a blast from the past at the Millennium Gate Museum. This massive gate structure signifies Atlanta’s railroad connections with the rest of the country in the past with roman architecture influences written all over it.

Take a nap with nature

At the Atlanta Botanical Garden nearby, stroll through countless species of plants and trees. Tired? Take a quiet nap under the shade with a gentle breeze in the vicinity.

Time for some comfort food

Head to South City Kitchen for some home-style soul food to re-energize so you are all set for the evening.

And as the sun sets down…

Hold up a glass at the Porter Beer Bar where there are tons of ales to taste and unwind.

When the night sets in…

Make your way to Sun Dial, a chic jazz club for where you can sip some great bourbon to call it a night.

Day 2

Wakey Wakey

Nothing like a sumptuous morning breakfast in Atlanta. And the best place for you to kick-start your day is at Ria’s Bluebird Cafe for the best buttermilk pancakes, which go well with a shot of Americano.

Fizz up your trip

Atlanta is the birthplace of the most popular brand in the world – Coca Cola. Here you can learn about the brand’s modest beginnings and its success story at its production facility. Sip some unique flavors and quench your thirst as you head to the next place.

Time for a mid-day snack

After all the fizz and sugar, it’s time to indulge in a food fiesta. South City Kitchen Midtown is just the place to fill up your tummy with some yummy fried chicken and pork chops.

Have some breaking news?

Head to the CNN Center take a peek at all the behind the scenes of the TV journalism and news media. See actual studios, research rooms, and the news desk where you must have seen your favorite anchors like Larry King.

How about a bird’s-eye view at Skyview Atlanta?

This 20-storey ferris wheel offers an unmatched panorama of the cityscape and all its fast-paced action.

Dinner time

Madre + Mason is the perfect pad to bite some delectable Latin-inspired sandwiches and wash them down with some of the smoothest cocktails.

That’s some itinerary. Planning your weekend trip to Atlanta?
